PADI Assistant Instructor

The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the Instructor Development Course (IDC). You'll not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional but you'll also start learning the PADI system of diver education.

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor Program

The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program is your final step in the quest to become a PADI Instructor. During the IDC, you'll learn to use and adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs. The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating sets you apart from the crowd. PADI Instructors may conduct a broad range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba to Divemaster.

What is an IDC & what is the process?

The PADI IDC was designed to provide Instructor training to Divemasters or PADI Assistant Instructors. The emphasis in the IDC is on development of knowledge and understanding of teaching skills and not on "just passing the IE." This produces a low stress environment that makes learning easier and fun.

When the instructor candidate has successfully completed the IDC, they proceed to the Instructor Evaluation (IE). The PADI IE is a standardized, objective evaluation conducted by PADI International. This two phase program, IDC & IE, makes the PADI Instructor Development process, the most comprehensive and demanding of any in the industry. It assures that PADI Instructors meet the highest standards for learning and performance of any recreational diver certification organization.

What do I need to Start?

• PADI Divemaster certification or an instructor in good standing with another training organization.

• Have logged 60 dives that include night, deep and navigation dives

• Proof of CPR training within the last 24 months

• Medical Clearance signed by a physician

What will I do?

• Knowledge development through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations

• Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations

• Open water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations

• Have at least 100 logged dives prior to entering a PADI Instructor Exam
